It is called Paragliding Hill because this hill becomes the place where paragliding activities are held. Its location in the hills which directly faces the vast ocean and very suitable for paragliding.
Even though this location is for paragliding, there are a few visitors come just to enjoy the view that is served here. With a height of 900 meters above sea level, they can enjoy the beauty of Parangtritis Beach line which meets directly with the extent of the South Sea. Sunset is favorite time to visit to this place. A dramatic evening will truly be an unforgettable experience ever.
Paragliding Hill was originally just an ordinary hill. furthermore, in 1991 the first concrete foundation was made for paragliding sport facilities. Then, it was continued to make supporting facilities such as joglo pavilion, ladders and parking area since about 1998.
Paragliding practitioners do the paragliding activities in December-February when the weather is sunny and the wind blows pretty fast. Even though the weather is unpredictable, they have difficulty to determine a fixed schedule.
Parangtritis Paragliding Hill is very easy to reach. From the city of Yogyakarta,the visitors can take Parangtritis Street through the Parangtritis Beach area and continue to Wonosari. Arriving at the Girisubi T-junction, take a right towards the Paragliding Hill. They will pass through the road which is quite steep so that it is advisable to use a strong vehicle to go up. After about 1 km, you will find a joglo pavilion and the Paragliding Hill parking area. Lastly, they can continue the journey by going down the stairs about 100 meters. There is no retribution fee,they only need to pay parking for IDR 3,000. And for those who are interested in trying extreme paragliding sports, it will cost IDR 300,000/person.
