The charm of nature tourism in Gunungkidul really makes us never stop getting stunned of it. Moreover, if we explore the row of white sand beaches in Gunungkidul. Therefore, it is not surprising if beach tourism is one of the mainstays of Gunungkidul Regency tourism. From many existing beach tourism, recently the beach that is become a popular trending for tourists is Watu Lumbung Beach.
It is located in Balong Village, Girisubo District, Gunungkidul Regency. Precisely on the west side of? Wediombo Beach or on the east of Mount Batur. Unlike with most of any beaches, Watu Lambung Beach can be categorized as a coral beach.
A distinctive feature of Watu Lumbung Beach can be seen from two large rocks in the middle of the beach. It is said that the coast of the reef which juts into the middle of the sea is the result of a volcanic eruption that happened millions of years ago.
The best way to enjoy the beauty of this beach is to go straight down while trekking along the reefs. Sometimes, you will see several sea animals and small fish trapped between the corals. Like most coral beaches, this location is quite strategic for fishing. Thus don’t be surprised if you find some people who are busy fishing.
There are two routes that can be taken to get to the Watu Lumbung Beach. First, from Yogyakarta to Wonosari – Balong – Watu Lumbung Beach. The second route in Yogyakarta-Wonosari – Semanu – T-junction of the Jepitu market. Then, turn right towards Wediombo Beach. Arriving at the parking area, we continue the journey by walking along the path that passes through the forest. It is recommended to bring your own food and drink supplies because there are no public facilities on this beach.
