Sri Gethuk waterfall is widely known as Slempret waterfall because it located in Slempret. This waterfall flanked by the high cliff (around 50 meters). The view along the track to go to this waterfall is full of green rice fields and coconut trees. This area is never drought throughout the year. Besides that, there are 3 wellsprings near the waterfall called Dung Poh, Ngandong and Ngumbul waterfall.

Sri Gethuk waterfall is located in Menggoran, Bleberan, Playen, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. This place can be reached within 1.5 hours from downtown Yogyakarta. To get to this waterfall, you need to walk along the footpath around 450 meters and down the 69 steps. However, there is another option to get to this waterfall, we can crossing the Oya River using a very simple raft made of drum and wooden board.
History of Sri Gethuk waterfall
Based on the legend, the local people often hear Slompret or trumpet (a traditional trumpet) from the waterfall direction. But if the sound is heard from a closer distance, it will disappear. The local people believed that this gamelan owned by the Slempret king of goblin, Anggo Mendura. It said that the waterfall was the location of the ghost market. Finally, this waterfall is famous by the name Slempret waterfall.
Sri Gethuk waterfall is the tourist object that includes Goa Rancang Kencana, Sri Gethuk waterfall, archeological site, fishing area, and campground. This place is fully organized by the local village youth. For the entrance ticket, we need to pay three-thousand rupiah for each person. Meanwhile, to rent the boat, we need to pay five-thousand rupiah.
