Kemadang Village has done with establishing a number of tourist objects by using village fund. A massive development of tourism destination that has been done by Kemadang village apparently could give also an impact in the urbanization rate in this area. Nearly 70 % of Kemadang villagers work in tourism business. They started to make homestay, create culinary business, and give parking service. The key of the success for that business tourism destination is the village fund management transparency in establishing the tourism potencies. That’s no wonder if Kemadang village has achieved the title of the best village in DIY. Kemadang village has various kinds of interesting tourism destinations. A number of beach tourism destinations that has been successfully developed are such as Baron, Sepanjang, Kukup, Watu Kodok beach and the new one, Ngrawe beach.
Baron Beach
Being different with other beaches in Gunung Kidul, we can find two kind of water in Baron beach that are saline water from the ocean and the fresh water from the river stream which flows into the ocean. It was supposedly that once every 5 years, this river stream is always changing. It will flow to the east side before reaching into the ocean. In this beach, we are not really suggested to play on the water because it has a big wave. But you can hunt the beautiful sunset view while having delightful seafood culinary.
Sepanjang Beach
Sepanjang beach is well known for its long and wide stretch of the clean white sand. This beach is claimed as Kuta beach of Yogyakarta because the atmosphere of this beach is just like in Kuta Beach, Bali. This beach has the longest seashore line in Gunung Kidul. The waves of Sepanjang beach are not also too big. When the sea starts receding from the beach you will be pleased by the natural beauty of the corals and the blue sea water. In the afternoon, you can also enjoy the calming sunset to release your tiredness of the work.
Kukup Beach
Kukup beach is the beach you must visit when you are on vacation in Gunung Kidul. Other than having calm waves and the wide stretch of the sand, here you can see the coastal cliff which surrounds the beach. One that makes Kukup beach becoming unique is the existence of the coral island in the east side of the beach. There is a bridge where you can see that coral island. Don’t forget to take a picture in that iconic sea bridge of Kukup beach so it could make your instagram feed being more stylish
Watu Kodok Beach
If you are camping lovers, Watu Kodok beach must be on your tourism destination list. It’s called Watu Kodok because there is a big chunk of coral that looks like a frog. The easily accessible and safe location makes this beach becoming tourist’s favorite camping destination. The beauty offered by this beach can be competed with other beaches in Gunung Kidul.
Ngrawe Beach
One of the uniqueness of Ngrawe beach is the stretch of the green bushes on the edge of the beach area. Many tourists make it as the unique photo spot. This kind of scenery is such a rare view can’t be found in other beaches. This beach is kind of new tourist destination, so it’s still clean and natural.
