This museum keeps 23 collection of carriage, horse ridding equipment, and tack horse. From that amount of the collection, there are 18 carriages that are still used for the royal ceremony tradition. Other than the carriages and its tacks, there is also a horse statue in this place.
The Greatest Carriage of Kyai Garuda Yaksa
One of the unique carriages in this museum is carriage of Kyai Garuda Yaksa. This carriage was made in Netherlands in 1861. Because it’s really sacrificed, there’s always held a ritual of carriage washing once a year in the month of Suro.
Contrary to others carriage, the luxury of this carriage can be seen on its ornament. By the special europeen design, there is a gold crown of about 18K on the top of this carriage.
This crown is usually washed on the special ceremony of the coronation.
For the carriage which is more than a hundreds years old, this carriage of Kyai Garuda Yaksa was highly sophiscated on its era. Once you opened the door, the stairs will automatically stretch out. Could you imagine its sophistication? Is that similar to the plane stairs?
