The design of the house is inspired by a traditional bamboo weave cone shaped steaming pot called <em><i>kukusan<\/i><\/em>. Philosophically, <em><i>kukusan<\/i><\/em> portrays an atmosphere of simplicity yet hold a strong struggling power to face the most difficult situations as in the past. The triangular cone shape symbolizes the harmony of life between the human, nature and God.\u00a0 There are 9 houses in the area and the choice of the number is in accordance with the Javanese ancestors\u2019 believe that number 9 is the symbol of fortune. Besides, it is also related to the early history of Islamic deployment in Indonesia by <em><i>Walisanga<\/i><\/em>\u00a0(9 Islam missionaries). The complex of Rumah Kukusan begins with an empty field as the front yard, reflecting the situation of the community in the beginning of their effort in developing tourism.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rumah Kukusan\u00a0atau\u00a0sering disebut Rumah Seribu Kayu karena menggunakan bahan ranting kayu yang sangat banyak. Rumah kukusan terinspirasi oleh sebuah alat memasak tradisional pada masa lalu yaitu berupa anyaman bambu berbentuk kerucut biasa disebut dengan kukusan. Kukusan mengambarkan suasana kesederhanaan\u00a0namun memiliki daya juang yang tangguh untuk menghadapi situasi-situasi yang paling sulit dimasa itu. Kukusan berbentuk segitiga merupakan lambang keselarasan hidup antara alam manusia dan Tuhannya.
