Most of the tourists visit the beaches in Gunung Kidul to enjoy the sea water or the white sand of the beach. But it’s quite different in Timang Beach, because the majoity of tourists who come to Timang Beach want to rush their adrenaline on Timang Beach Gondola ride, a kind of cable car which rolls along the ocean that has big waves. Timang Beach which is located in Danggolo, Purwodadi, Tepus, Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta has became very famous lately. After having been presented on the one of the reality shows in South Korea, Timang Beach gained more visitors. But to reach tTimang Beach, we need to takes uneasy route. The tourists should pass through a rocky, winding route and steep slopes. It is about 80 km or about 2 – 3 hours from the city center of Yogyakarta. Even so, your tiredness will be paid off by the amazing sceney of Timang Beach.

There are 2 sides of Timang Beach. On the east side you can find the beach that has sparkling white sand and clear water. Otherwise on the west side of the beach, you will discover a hilly rocks area which border directly on the ocean. On the east side, the we can enjoy playing the water but it can’t be happened on the wes side. Due to strong winds and waves, the tourists are prohibited to play in the water.

The name “Timang” is taken from a big boulder that breaks the waves which is located in the middle of this ocean. This bif boulder is called Timang Island. Timang island becomes the main attraction for tourists. Because there is Gondola or kind of cable car that can be used to cross Timang island. This Gondola was made in 1997 and was used by the fishermen who wanted to look for seafood such as lobster to cross the ocean because it was imposile for them to reach that island on boat since the waves and the sea water stream are heavy. Finally, this gondola was created to facilitate them in finding lobsters.

Because of a lot of tourists are interested in this Gondola ride, this Gondola becomes the main attraction of Timang Beach. This gondola was made of acacia wood which is uses one or two stationary rope for moving support. It use the rope because the rope is more solid to sea water than iron and steel. Gondola can take only a person to cross to Timang island.

The sensation of crossing the island that can rush the adrenaline because the tourists will glide along the ropes of 98 meters and on the height of 9 to 11 meters above sea level. When the gondola gets hit by the sea breeze or waves, it will sway away and make the heart beat faster.

Since it was inaugurated on 2012, Timang beach Gondola becames the visitor’s favorite spot. Many visitors want to rush their adrenaline by ridding this gondola to reach Timang Island. Uniquely, this gondola is driven by human power to make it glide on the rope. You don’t need to worry because this gondola is safe. Arriving at Timang island, you will feel amazed by the incredible views of the ocean. Don’t forget to capture these moments.

If you don’t want to try this gondola, you can try to walk on the Cable Bridge next to gondola. Having been finished on March 2017, this Cable Bridge was made of 120-foot wooden platform that has rope to support it. This cable bridge is also used to cross ocean to reach Timang island. Just like gondola, the tourists can feel their adrenaline rushing by walking on this cable bridge. If the wind blows this bridge will sway away.

The entrance ticket costs Rp10,000 per person. In addition the parking retribution costs Rp2,000 for a motorbike and Rp5,000 for a car. You need need to pay more expensive if you want try Gondola ride or cable bridge. To try the gondola ride, the tourists have to pay Rp200,000 per person. Meanwhile, to cross on the cable bridge, the tourists must pay Rp100,000 rupiahs per person.
