You have already known that Jogja is a paradise for the natural tourist. But, this natural tourist spot is still new to enter to your bucket list. The name is Widosari Peak. This peak is located in Tritis, Samigaluh, Kulon Progo. From the city of Jogja you can walk straight towards Godean street, continue to follow the road until you meet the Nanggulan intersection. From the intersection take the road to the right until you meet the Dekso intersection, still go straight to Plono Market.
From Plono Market you just have to follow the directions to Widosari peak. Actually this tourist spot has been built since 2012, but due to its extreme and dangerous location, few tourists are willing to take a glance at it. Until 2017, Widosari peak began to polish itself and build this area to be safer and more visitor-friendly. The fascinting that is offered by Widosari peak is already famous for a long time.
The peak of Widosari is the highest point of the hill called Widosari Hill which is a group of Menoreh Mountains. This hill is different with another hill, if we take a closer look, it looks like a human head. On the hill it looks like there is a lump shaped like the eyes, nose and mouth that belong to a human. From the top of the hill you can see amazing natural scenery. The expanse of greenery as far as the eye can see and the endless breezes. One of the things that has become the icon of Widosari Peak is the large rock on the hill. This stone is so big that it can be seen from a distance.
The peak of Widosari is not too high compared to other peaks but it is quite exhausting to reach the peak. Make sure you are in a good body condition before coming here. You don’t need to worry because the road to the top is well laid out so it is safe. Access road to the location is in the staircases with safety standard. There are about 240 steps that you have to climb to get to the top of the peak.
There are several points of location that you can use to take a rest. But you still have to be careful because this hill is surrounded by some deep ravines. Once you get to the top, your tiredness will pay off by the view which is really amaze your eyes. In addition to its enchanting natural scenery, one of the attractions of Widosari Peak is its historical value. It is said that Widosari Hill was used as the location for Prince Diponegoro’s meditation.
The facilities at Widosari Hill are quite complete. There are public bathrooms, food and snack stalls, prayer rooms, a spacious parking area, and homestay. If you come here with your family, there is a gazebo that can be used to relax and rest together. The scenery from the viewing post is really make you feel impressed because it can be a cool photo spot. This viewing post is really good to see the amazing view of Widosari Peak.
Built with a strong construction in the large size area. There are long benches to sit and relax to enjoy the beautiful view of Widosari Peak. You are better not miss for taking selfies and capture the moments from above the height, especially if you go there to invite your loved ones. At the edge of the viewing post, it is equipped with a safety equipment to make your activities safer and calmer.
When you have a plan for coming here, it is highly recommended to check the weather first. It’s hard the access route if you come here in the rains because the route are steep and slippery.
