This tourist destination is located not quite far from the city center of Yogyakarta and situated on the slopes of Merapi Mount.

Located precisely in Petung, Kepuharjo village, Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta this is approximately 29 km from the city center. From the city center you can walk towards Kaliurang street, follow the road towards Merapi Mount until you find directions to go to Kaliadem. At the first glance, the name The Lost World Castle seems creepy, but this name was chosen for a reason. The word Castle was taken because the building’s unique architecture resembled the shape of the Takeshi Fortress in one of the Japanese variety shows that was once famous in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the word “Lost World” was chosen because this tourist spot was built on the location of a village that had been lost to the eruption of Mount Merapi. The village is named Kuharjo Village.

The Magnificent Architecture
When you are seeing this building from outside area, it will look like a fortress in the kingdoms in Japan. The grey color of the walls makes this tourist spot look cool and really makes us feel like we are in an ancient Japanese-style building. This catle building is also very large approximately 1.3 hectares.

This tourist area was established for the educational tourist destinations for visitors. The Lost World Castle uses rock from the eruption of Merapi Mount some years ago as raw material for construction. Although it is classified as a disaster-prone area, it does not reduce the popularity of this tourist spot. Every day, many visitors came and it’s dominated by young people.

You can visit this tourist destination every day from 06.00 to 18.00 p.m. The entrancee ticket to The Lost World Castle is Rp. 30,000 with a parking fee of Rp. 5,000 It’s better if you come here in the morning or afternoon because at that time still cool and not too hot.

Please make sure you come when the weather is sunny, because when it rains you will find it difficult to explore all areas and of course the photos that will be produced are also less impressive. The facilities available are very complete; there are a spacious parking area, bathroom, prayer room, food stall, and homestay at an affordable price.
