Ijo temple becomes the highest temple in Yogyakarta. The name of Ijo temple is derived from the temple location which is situated in Bukit Ijo, Sambirejo, Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Bukit Ijo is located in the area of 410 meters above sea level, so that’s no wonder if Ijo temple is called as the highest temple in Yogyakarta.

The temple complex consists of 17 buildings which are divided into 11 terraces. The first terrace stretches out from the west side to the east side. In other hand, the building on the higest terrace is surrounded by the fences where there are 8 pieces of lingga patok, and also four temples which are one main temple and threes perwara temple. In the main temple we will discover a chamber where there are Lingga and Yoni that symbolize the union of God Shiva and Goddess Parwati inside it. In addition, in three other perwara temples, the visitors can see a temple statue which was recognized as Shiva vehicle and a table stone called padmasana.

The temple hall where the bushes grow and the beautiful landscape can be seen clearly make this Ijo temple doesn’t only become the favorite place for the history and culture lover, but also for the visitors who want only to refresh their mind and to release their stress. From Ijo temple, the visitors will be pleased by the incredible view of rice field area and the village surrounding, and also the view of the planes that take off or even land in Adisucipto Airport, and also the view of the big Merapi Mount. Ijo temple is also becomes one of the nice places to enjoy the best sunset in Jogja.

Ijo temple is located in Groyokan, Sambirejo, Prambanan, Sleman. To reach Ijo temple, the visitors can pass the road of Prambanan-Piyungan. After passing Ratu Boko Palace they have to turn left and follow the route direction to Ijo temple.
