Kulon Progo has a variety of natural tourist captivating. Those are very beautiful and still natural. Waterfall is a main tourist destination in the westernmost regency in Special Province of Yogyakarta.

There are various types of waterfalls in the Menoreh Hills Area. One of that which is well-known is Kembang Soka Waterfall. Kembang Soka Waterfall is located in the area of Mount Kelir, Jatimulyo, Girimulyo, Kulon Progo. The location is quite far from the center of Jogja City.

From the city of Jogja you can drive towards the Demak Ijo trafic light, and then turn left towards Godean street. Keep going until you find Godean Market. Follow the road until you past the Godean Market and you already crossed the Progo River. After that you will find the Nanggulan intersection, take the road to the west towards the Menoreh Mountains.

Follow the road towards Kiskendo cave, after passing that cave you will meet a T-junction, take the left direction towards Grojogan Mudal. Then, you select the path to the left until you find a welcome gate. Isn’t it easy, right? But you have to be careful, especially when you come here during the rainy season. The road will be slippery and dangerous, especially with many hairpin curves. Please make sure that you are in good condition, because you still have to walk quite a long way from the parking area to the waterfall location. But believe me, you are guaranteed to be amazed by the charm of the magnificent Kembang Soka Waterfall.

Kembang Soka Waterfall is the highest waterfall among other waterfalls in the Menoreh Hills area. So it is not surprising that the volume of water spilled is so heavy that it is used as a source of irrigation by local residents. This waterfall is form by the meeting of three springs: Kembang Soka springs, Tuk Jaran springs, and Kalimiri springs. It was spring which is transformed into a waterfall with high approximately 5 meters, 15 meters and 30 meters. Then the three of them combined into one large stream of water with a height of about 40 meters. Yellowish stones and a water dam that is made to resemble a pool make you unable to stop yourself from going down and playing water.

The main activity that you can do here is playing water and enjoying the beauty of Kembang Soka waterfall. The fresh mountain air, coupled with the sound of the waterfall, makes all the burdens of the piling up of tasks or countless jobs from daily routines. You can sit and relax on the edge of the waterfall while relaxing your soul. The facilities in this water tourism area are quite complete. There is a spacious parking area, toilets and bathrooms, some of photo spots that will definitely make your Instagram feed cooler, and food stalls which selling various foods and drinks. Even if you want to be here for a few days, there are also homestay managed by local residents.
