Enjoying Sermo Reservoir Scenery from Pethu Hill

Menoreh Hill Kulonprogo saves enermous natural tourism potential. On of popular tourism location in Menoreh Hill area is Sermo Reservoir.

Sermo Reservoir is an artificial reservoir that was inaugurated in 1996. This location surrounds with Menoreh hill with green landscape and fresh air and it becomes tourists option who want to take a break from the bustle of city.

There are many ways to enjoy the Sermo Reservoir beauty , from near by renting a boat around the reservoir or by taking photos from Kalibiru.

Following in the footsteps of the Kalibiru tha succeeded with the photo spot and make the Sermo Reservoir as its background. Recently, the Sermo Reservoir’s keeper also has a selfie spot on the edge of the reservoir.

At first, this idea came from Tegalrejo Dusun youth organization members. They were inspired by the photo spot in Kalibiru. The idea eventually realized as the tourist attraction name the “Pesona Bukit Pethu Waduk Sermo” and made it as two viewing posts facing to the Waduk Reservoir as an icon.

This Pethu Hill idea also appears as an alternative tour to the visitors who want to enjoy the reservoir beauty without surrounding the reservoir by boat. Each of the two viewing posts has a height of approximately 2,5 meters. They also can use the viewing post as a photo spot with the Sermo Reservoir and Menoreh Hill as the background.

Maintaining the safety of visitors, safety devices are provided at each of the viewing posts. As for the cost of viewing post, each visitor is charged IDR 5,000 per person. Besides that, the keeper also provides photo services at a rate of IDR 5,000 rupiah per photo, with a minimum order of 3 photos.

For added convenience, the keeper provides several gazebos for the visitors to relax. Around the hill there are also several food and beverage vendors.

The visitors can visit Pethu Hill every day from 8 am to 5 pm. Going to the Pethu Hill, they simply circle the ring road of Sermo Reservoir and follow the instructions provided by the keeper.
