Watu Lawang Mangunan
Mangunan is one of tourism centre in Bantul that has a lot of interesting toursm spots. Starting from the Mangunan fruit orchards, pine forests , Mojo hill and the recent tourism object is Watu Lawang.
Watu Lawang is a tourism spot that is still in one location with Mangunan Fruit Orchard. Watu Lawang itself is taken from the word of Lawing which means pintu (door) in Indonesia. The reason behind it is because the top of the hill looks like a door.
This tourism object is to the west of the mangunan fruit orchard. Watu Lawang is famous for its rice field area of ??Kedungmiri Tourism Village and the Imogiri suspension bridge as its background. It is not something new for some residents in Bantul that it becomes one of tourist attractions there.
To reach the Watu Lawang spot, visitors must walk along the steps and paths that are on the edge of cliff. Watu Lawang is marked by large boulders. Beside that, the Watu Lawang bridge becomes the main tourist attraction.
In the past, the Watu Lawang was an ancient mountain formed in the process of forming Kali Oya. Just like Nglanggeran Purba Mountain, Watu Lawang Hill was formed from ancient chunks of stone. The peak seemed to be split into two sharp edges overgrown with trees and bushes. This hill cannot be climbed from the hillside because of the sharp slope. Until now, access to Watu Lawang is only from Mangunan Village.
Even though Watu Lawang cannot enjoy the sunrise or sunset directly, but the view is too unfortunate to miss it. Fresh air, the lush area of trees, rice fields and the Kali Oya will be enough to make our eyes and body relax for a moment.
Getting to this location, the visitors just need to follow the direction to the Mangunan Fruit Orchard. The difference is before arriving at the Mangunan intersection, there is a small T- junction to the village. Take a right and follow the road until you meet Watu Lawang direction. The road that must be passed is still in the form of land and rocky. Parking fees are charged IDR 2,000 for motorbikes and IDR 5,000 for cars.
