Taking place at Puro Pakualaman Palace, the ceremony is held every Sabtu Kliwon (Javanese calendar) or in short, once every 35 days. In this procession, there would be two troops of royal army involved. They are called as Prajurit Bregada Lombok Abang and Prajurit Bregada Plangkir. It is quite easy to distinguish those two troops. The highlight of this ceremony is the exchanging process of the troop ensigns. The two troops would bringing along their Dwaja (troop ensign) and get ready in front of the palace gate. A representative from the troop that have done their duty would take the Dwaja of the off-duty troop back to the cordon, while another army from the new troop would put the new Dwaja at the pole where the previous Dwaja was placed. The ceremony ends when the whole cordon of the previous troop leave the location for their base. The procession of Guard Changing at Pakualaman Palace used to be held in private.
