Cliff History
About 70 million years ago, the ancient Nglanggeran volcano erupted and spewed all its material from the bowels of the earth. This explosive explosion that took place tens of millions of years ago eventually created exotic rock deposits in the vicinity. These deposits spanned tens or even hundreds of kilometers, from the area we know today as Patuk District, Gunungkidul, then spread around Prambanan to the east of Bantul Regency.
