Mount Bagus is forest area located in Giring Village Paliyan. Being located in the end eastern point of the city Jogja, it takes about 2 hours to reach this area. Mount Bagus is not a tourism destination or tourist object, but recently this area becomes viral in social media. There are many people who talk about this mount which really looks like the mount in Sumba Nusa Tenggara Timur. Primarily this place was a teak wood forest. But last year the farmers decided to plant the high quality of the new variety of teak in this forest area.
Waiting for the replantation of the new variety of teak, the farmers plant the corn. So the wide expanse of this area is now looked so green and fresh because of many corn plantations.
Because of many small mounds that looks like a small mount discovered in this area, this phenomenon makes this place look like Mount Wairinding in Sumba. Fisrtly this kind of a land full of grass and mound wouldn’t be seen. But, after the opening of the land of 82 hectar, this amazing greenish scenery can be seen. Through social media and internet this place becomes more popular and gain many visitations.
So, you don’t need to go so far to get interesting travel inspiration. You just need to go to Paliyan, Gunung Kidul, and you will be free to enjoy the nature and take pictures. If in Mount Warinding in Sumba you will discover the greenish thatch plant, here you will find the land of greenish corn plantation. Since these corn plantations are planted by the farmers we are not allowed to destroy them. Once the visitors are so curious about this place, they are allowed to come but they must keep the environment clean and well.
