Just like its name, the tourism object which is located in Sambirejo, Prambanan, Sleman is a cliff or kind of hill. Uniquely, This Breksi Cliff is an ex-quarry land. The local people in Sambirejo were a limestone or rock miner. But, according to the research, those limestones are the volcanic stones formed by Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano activity. That’s why the mining activity in this area was stopped because this Breksi cliff area is preserved as natural conservation area.
The local people around finally lost their job, after they weren’t allowed to mine the limestone in Breksi Cliff. But, as the time goes by, there are many people who come to this place to enjoy the beauty of its nature. In the process of the time, this place was getting more visitors, so the local made this ex-quarry land becoming a captivating tourism destination. Then, Breksi Cliff was inaugurated as tourism object in Yogyakarta on May 2015 by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X .
Breksi Cliff offers the beautiful view of the natural mass rock. This beautiful white high cliff can becomes the great object of photography. The visitors can walk around In Breksi cliff area while capturing their greatest moment. There are many beautiful and attractive photo shoot spots. This Breksi Cliff even becomes the couple’s favorite location to have pre-wedding shoot.
There are various carving on Breksi Cliff like wayang and dragon sculpture which becomes the visitor’s favorite selfie spot. The other visitor’s favorite spot is Breksi Cliff stairs. If you go up the stairs, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from the top of the cliff where the people also can see Barong temple and Prambanan temple that the location isn’t far away from Breksi Cliff. The visitor can see also the view of the city of Yogyakarta and Merapi Volcano from its top.
Other than taking picture and enjoying the scenery from the top of the hill, the visitors can also enjoy an art show in amphiateater or Breksi cliff’s performance namely Tlatar Seneng stage. Tlatar Seneng is used to hold many kinds of artistic performances. The stage which is the position is on the center and surrounded by the chairs will make the visitors could enjoy the show comfortably.
This Breksi cliff’s entrance fee ticket is affordable, because the visitor need only to pay Rp.5000,-. The parking retribution costs Rp.2000,- for a motorbike and Rp.5000,-for a car. The facility provides is complete enough. There are parking area, mushola, toilets, and foodcourt area.
The best timing to visit this area is in the afternoon right before the sun goes down, because the weather would be so hot if you come here on the midday and this place is also ex-quarry land so there aren’t many trees around. If you visit this area, it is better for you to bring hat, umbrella, or sunblock then you won’t get sunburn
Breksi Cliff is opened daily starting at 5 a.m to 6 p.m. In this Breksi cliff the tourist can enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The sunlight which is reflected on the limestone cliff will give us the incredible view. This moment would become nice spot also for your photoshoot because it will make your picture having good effect. So that’s why The Cliff of Breksi becomes the photographer’s favorite location.
