Jomblang Cave is one of the challenging cave tourism destinations. The visitors will be taken down to the cave for having cave tracing.

Jomblang Cave is a vertical cave caused by the collapsing soil and vegetation due to geological processes. It makes a sinkhole or hole with the mouth of the cave about 50 meters. So that there was formed Jomblang Cave where there is a conservation area of the ancient plants in the bottom of the cave.

Jomblang Cave is located in Pacarejo Village, Semanu, Gunungkidul, D.I Yogyakarta. If you depart from Yogya, it will take about 1.5 up to 2 hours or about 49 km. To get to Jomblang Cave, the visitors can use private vehicles and follow the route directions or use Google Maps.

For the beginners, you can start to pass the 15 meter route, and for the ones who expert, they can pass the route of 40 meter, 60 meter and 80 meter. On the route of 15 meter, the visitors trace this cave on foot even though the track is quite steep.

After reaching the bottom of the cave, the visitors will get fascinated by the view around Jomblang Cave mouth. In every step we take, we can find various beautiful ancient plants and vegetation. And when we go along the cave passage, we can see the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites on the cave passage. In addition, there is an underwater river flow in Jomblag Cave.

Here, the visitors could see the outstanding scenery of “light of heaven” where the visitor is used to upload this scenery picture of the shinee sunlight that goes down to the cave and ligh the flowstone in social media. The dazzling view of the sunlight which is contrasts with its dark cave will make the visitors feel amazed. That’s what makes coming the term of ‘heaven’s light’.

But if we want to see this ‘light of heaven’ we need also to come on the right time around 10 to 12 where the sun definitely shines the mouth of Jomblang Cave. So we absolutely need to come on sunny day because if it is cloudy there will be no sunlight shine the mouth of this cave.
The entrance fee ticket is free, if the visitors bring their own caving equipment; they need only to ask officer cave’s permission. However, if you do not bring your own equipment, you can rent it on the cave’s officer. It costs Rp.450, 000-1,000,000 and they will get inclusive caving package like caving equipment, guides and lunch.

The price is valid for 1 person. While the parking retribution costs IDR 3,000 for a motobike and IDR 5,000 for a car. You don’t need to worry about the facilities here. There are Mushola, bathrooms or toilets, homestay and a place, the chief of the village’s house where they can save their belonging.
